Kids now control our streets

Not many 'families' actually have a Mum and Dad. Most are single parent families living on benefits.

Once the female is preggers, the Dad disappears with or without the kid. The kid gets pushed from pillar to post and never has any stability, it's left to roam the streets because Mum is down the pub drinking away the money.

LOL we should have sold Sir Walter Raleigh the OTHER WEED when he visited, then you would be having a smoke, eat a bag of crisps, have another smoke, eat some fish n chips, have another smoke, forget what you were going to ponder and start thinking about a silly joke, have another smoke and fall asleep watching old reruns of Dr.Who... :eek:

Actually I think he was a 16-17th century version of a crack dealer, selling tobacco to all the big wigs, whoring with Queen E's maids of honour, and getting people peed off at him.... at least after doing time once he should have learned... but then he met his match with King James, after again taking ships for joy rides and this time roughing up the Spanis King James got mad enough to order his head be removed...
...and that is how they should treat people these days who think they are above the law - OFF WITH THEIR HEADS:eek:

It is most definately our responsibility to instil morals into our children. Even basic manners, which most children these days lack. Lead by example! I'm always having to remind my daughter and her partner to say "please and thank you" to the kids. They forget then wonder why the kids don't say it to them or other adults!

That said, there are other influences in a childs life. I know I've been an influence on my grandchildren, my daughters grandparents influenced her and so on. So yes, it's up to the parents, but not just the parents, everyone that a child comes into contact with can influence them. They will also learn from their peers, so if they hang out with torags they will become torags, albeit to a lesser degree if they have been influenced by well mannered, caring adults.

Must be Friday, I'm ranting too (hmm, do I really need a Friday for that lol). I'll away back to my strawberry tart, we all need our 5 day :)

I think we touched on this in that religious thread.

Where does taking responsibility for your own actions come into it?
There does come a time when you have to stop blaming something else for an individuals behavior. Perhaps that's where the problem lies.

But at what age? If we are talking kids, I'm presuming children, minors, primary school etc as this is when patterns are formed for life. Wouldn't it be great if we really could change their minds and show them that there is something worth while in this world??

I saw a piece on 60 Minutes the other night about how all the Mr. Rogers era children have grown up with a good feeling about themselves but the inability to actually accomplish anything. Their mommies have to call their bosses when they get bad reviews.

I think it's good to instill positive feelings in children but sometimes they just need a swift kick in the...what was that word again?

OK, I've just Googled Mr Rogers. Where do I sign up? That's exactly where I want to live lol.

There are and always will be lines George, and I agree, sometimes a child is just in need of something more than a few harsh words. In 93 we had two kids brutally murder a toddler. They got time for it, but as soon as they were old enough to be released they were given new identities and, I'm told, sent off to live in the colonies. Now, I couldn't get into another country without a vast amount of money to prove that I can sustain myself and I can guarantee you if I'd ever been prosocuted for something a lot more minor, say shop lifting or prostotution, (don't ask why the latter, just thought it would be fun to drop it in lol), I'd get "reject" stamped on my forehead at the first form. It does seem unfair. The world is going nuts! I'm going nuts, I'm ranting again. See, this is what happens when men oppress their wives :D

Well my suggestion would be as early as possible. I think it's the 'blame somebody else' culture that gets passed on at an early stage that is the problem.

There is a fine distinction between 'blame' and 'responsibility'. If an individual can grasp the fact that they are responsible for their own behavior regardless of their upbringing then they have a better chance of improving it.
