a crosstab cannot produce that report.
you could export the data to excel then create a pivot table to get that look.

Thought I’d managed to sort this but still a little problem😬

When I run the report on it’s own the data displays as landscape which is what I want however when I add the report as a subreport, it changes to portrait🙁

anyone got a solution or idea why

Change your main report to landscape
When I view in report view it displays the results in portrait but in print preview, it displays the results in landscape which is what I want, however when the subreport is positioned with a left margin, that margin appears on all three records
Back to the drawing board!!

Just to clarify, are you using 3 columns on your report in order to get those side by side?
If so, you need to know that the main report will completely ignore the subreport columns and treat that as one single column.
Instead you need to use 3 columns in your MAIN report

I am, but to make matters worse, I wanted to place a different single column subreport on the left of the main report and the 3 column one next to it
I never do things easy😉

Hmm. You didn't mention any of that previously
Not sure it is possible to do but I'll leave it to you to experiment with 4 columns in the main report.
Good luck!
