hi guys

i have a form called quote number which stores the information about the quote then i have a subfrom for the details of that quote. i have set the subform to show the last record entered. this has worked fine however i have now come across the fact that if i enter a new set of figures in the sub form close down the database. if i then re open the database go to that quote number from my combo box to display the quote details in the subform the entry i have just entered is not the last entry it places the details in a random position. this has not always been the case

please help

The fact that they were added last does not mean that they will allways appear last you need to place a sort order on the underlying query/table of the subform.

sorry what i have done i have created a makro called last record and dropped this in the on open section of the properties for that form
so what your saying is that on the query that this form is based on i need to put order by last record in there???

well what do you mean by last?

last added?

highest number?

latest date?

access needs to be told - since as far as access is concerend all records in a table are equal - there is no intrinsic sense of an order.

what happens the user types a quote number in a combo box to search for the quote when this is entered the details of that quote is displayed eg drawing number customer name etc then in the subform the quote details are displayed for that quote number eg the date of the enquiry no of parts required how much etc. there are numerous details for this because customers can come on and ask for different quantities at different times. this is where my probllem lies i want access to display the last record that was entered by the user, which it has been but now its not this is important because i have a form that prints out a contract review form based on that record which displays the detail of that last record

hope this makes sense
