Hi, I am trying to link to a table on a password protected drive. The backend database is on the protected drive. I can see the drive from my computer and access it but when I try to link with Access I get a generic error message that says it could password protected, or might contain certain characters (doesn't). Access also shows all of the drives on the network as being "disconected". The drive is accessible to me by all other means with the exception of Access. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have the password but see no options to use it.

Don't really know if this will work or that it is appropriate, but worth a try.

Create a system DNS that point to the access mdb, I am sure you will have to enter your credentials. Then you could use the DNS to point/link the tables.

Thanks for your response but I'm afraid it's a little over my head. I've scoured my Access Bible as well as the internet and can find nothing on this. Can you put this in laymans terms or can you give me an example?

It won't work because it won't let you use an ODBC connection from an Access app to another Access app.

I seriously doubt that Access will work if the DRIVE is password protected. There is no mechanism which would allow Access to get in.
