OK,
I feel really stupid already for even thinking about asking this question... I did a search, but it was tough to find the right words for this... I know it will probably be something really simple... and make me feel really dumb for asking... but here goes:
I am going through another developer's databases and there's a linked table in one database. Said table is being linked to another database that has a bunch of tables... all similar in name and sructure...
The linked table has been renamed with an alias, which simply denotes its database name.
For example:
Let's say in a database named Wilma.accdb, there is a linked table who's alias is "FRED"
The database name, where the table resides, is FRED.accdb.
Inside FRED.accdb there are a bunch of tables that all have similar data structure and names (i.e., like Fred_Quary, Fred_Bowling, Fred_LOWB, Fred_Etc...).
When you hover over the linked table (in Wilma.accdb), it shows the path to FRED.accdb... but doesn't show the table name FRED is linked to within FRED.accdb. If you right click the table and click on table properties... only "FRED" appears as the name.
So how can I tell which table is actually being linked to, without making changes to the data in Wilma and then manually checking all the tables in FRED.accdb for those changes?
Like I said, I should probably know how to do this already, since I have only been working with Access for 14+ years... but I am at a loss because I never have had an issue like this before.
Everything has always been blatantly obvious when it comes to tables and where they are linked to...
If the answer is simple... my ego requests you make it sound profoundly difficult and overly involved... all superfluous explanations will be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
-G
