Until recently I kept a dedicated computer with Windows XP professional operating system which had my copy of Access 97 loaded onto, it which I still retain for some legacy systems. Unfortunately this computer has now died and when I tried to load Access 97 onto my current computer which has Windows 7 professional operating system and Access 10 already loaded, I could not get Access 97 to run.

The CD that I have is a fully licenced version of 97.

Can anyone suggest how I can get Access 97 to work?

Kind regards,

Eddie

A97 will not run on Windows7, I understand

You need an XP system from somewhere, I think.

You can run A2003 on W7, I believe.

I now get a message saying "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no licence for it on this machine". What it does not do is allow me to put in the licence charactors.

Kind regards

As I remember way back when I had A97 and you tried to install it on a machine and it came up with that error. It was down to the fact that is found a font in the fonts directory called Hatton.ttf (Haettenschweiler) What you had to do was to delete that font. Uninstall office 97 and reinstall A97 then restore the font.

I think there is more info on this subject on the web.
