Hi All,
I have a db that sits on a server which primary use is to just sit there spliting information. No users access the db directly.
The problem I'm having at the moment is when I try and open the db from my PC whilst it is still open on the server I get the error message "Unable To Lock File".
It is not open exclusive on the server.
I have tried compact and repair but no change.

Any Clues???? :( :(

Does an .ldb file exist in the folder? if so open it with notepad.. see which machine has it open, then reboot that machine. Then you could try to open the database exclusively yourself...

Treason,
Thanks for your reply,
The only machine that has it open is the server itself.

I have tried that.
I've got a nasty feeling that the db is corrupt in some way.

The question is, can you create a new file in that directory or modify existing files (other than the DB itself?)

When we first set up our shared DB, we had to assure that the users could create and delete lock files, which is more than the normal privileges for a shared folder.

Thanks Doc_Man
There is no other folder or files in the directory but I can create one if needed. No users actually access the database.
The purpose of the database is to collect data from our AS400 and then it then forwards data to a third party program.
The db is working away in the background fine.
I'm just a bit concerned that this is the start of a bigger problem.
