have a access database using access 97 have 30 users but sometimes some users are being locked out by other users displaying who it is........

When they save they are just moved to the next record

It seems to work Ok until more people seem to use.

Currently they input sales through a front end which is linked to a back end. I run reports off the back end and sometimes have to enter the back end in order to alter sales...but this locking has happened when no one has been in the back end...

Have checked the locking in the options and that is correct but the database does have a Sales id which is a auto number

Could this have something to do with it...

a message appears saying 'the database has been placed in a state by User 'Admin' that prevents it from being opened or locked'

PLEASE HELP?

This is a very common problem when many users are using the same database inputing records at the same time. The best solution I have seen is to use a split database, meaning a front end and a back end. Each user could then use their own copy of the front end from their computers, while linked tables are linking to a centralized database in the back-end location.

Let me know if the helps any.
