If you look at something like the new MacBook Air that is truly a beautiful object. If I stop drooling for a minute, the only reason I haven't acquired a MacBook Air is now that apple uses the Intel chipset why can't we have a version of Access as part of the Office Suite for the Mac.

FWIW, if I were you, I'd leave a note with MacBU letting them know that. No guarantee they'll respond but not telling them is certainly not going to make this a reality. I'd totally love to see it become a reality especially in light of how they resurrected VBA for Office 2011 (they had removed it in 2008 but apparently there were so much howling and gnashing of teeth they went back and put it back in. That surprised even me as I figured nobody would care about VBA on Mac. i was wrong.), but then again, given how Microsoft has been ga-ga over anything in cloud, they may not be so much interested in clients anymore.

Commercially, with similar Office offerings for both the Mac and PC, I personally think that the Ribbon caused more problems than switching users between platforms.

Have you seen Office 2011? They went and put in ribbon regardless. I'm still of the opinion that ribbon isn't really a better UI, simply different UI and with them keeping even native Mac toolbars, this makes for funky UI. At least one has choices, I guess.

Entourage I believe is becoming Outlook.

Indeed! Been using Outlook 2011 and while I'm happy to see improvement in integration with Exchange, it's pretty tender and may need some more maturing. At least it's definitely a step ahead for Mac Office, I think.

Banana,

I have already contacted Apple Business Unit. I received a postive response to positioning of the Office suite including Access but for some reason that they did not know there of any immediate release of Access for the Mac.

Cool. That'll help. Their response does sound expected, though. It's not typical for any business to disclose too much about future plans anyway. I imagine they don't want to make promises that they won't keep, etc., etc.

Even if they merely released a runtime version for Mac only, I think that'd be very helpful in making Access solutions cross-platform.

Using anti-anything is basically same thing as insisting that you should be able to leave your house unlocked but you'll pay a rent-a-cop to park outside of your house to watch the house and make sure nobody who shouldn't be there get in. At first it seems like it'll work but by and by you'll have to tell rent-a-cop to stop bringing his friends over and raiding your fridge, to not accost your niece who came over for visit (yes, she's a relative and I trust her, blah blah), and then few more. In end, you end up watching the rent-a-cop and thus were worse off before the rent-a-cop was hired.

Not quite. I look at it more like this. There are some people out there who not only leave their metaphorical house unlocked, but scream out their window that people walking by can come on in. Sure, that rent-a-cop will catch a few people that try and take advantage of the open door, but when you are allowing people in without being selective on who you allow in, then of course it's going to fail.

People have to be more careful online, period. They click on every single link they get from their infected friends, of course they will be infected too. They surf free porn sites online and download that file "video player.exe" so they can get their fill, yeah, that sounds legit. Ooops, it was malware and now I have 9467 viruses and should buy this antivirus 2011 program.

I spend 95% of most waking hours of a day on a computer, and I have yet to be infected with anything.
