Mapped drives vs. UNC (1 Viewer)

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to either? I've been told that Access works better with mapped drives than UNC...any truth to that?

using one or the other is situationally dependent.

If you have a script that maps the same letters to different groups but the paths are different, then a UNC is your best choice. If everything is the same across the board, then I see no reason to not use the mapped drive so long as nothing changes. Overall, UNC is universal and does not rely on a drive letter. You may take a small lag hit while it contacts the server but thus far it hasn't been an issue for me.

I'd agree with Kodo on this point. But, either (mapped/UNC) are liable to
change in the future, so your main form can perform a "check" to be sure
that it is in contact with the outside world before proceeding.
