i have recieved a MDE file desinged in Access 97. I have to convert this database to new version. As MDE files can not be converted to other version. I make another access file and tried to import all the tables, queries, forms , report and modules.I have successfully imported all the tables & Quereis but I am unable to import forms, repots and modules as these are not permitted to copy, import or design. So Please advise me how can I import these forms and report.

Sorry, but you have to have the original MDB file to do this.

Isn't there some software designed for that Bob? Never used it...Don't know how well it works...but I saw "Access MDE Unlocker 2.10" saying it can unlock a MDE file.

There may be, but since an MDE file is meant to protect something and keep users from doing design changes...is it kosher to defeat it? Maybe, depending on the situation, but maybe not.

Anyway, if it's yours and you locked yourself out, that's one thing. If it is something someone else created and you are trying to get in, that's another.

There is some software out there that suppossedly can do this for forms, but it only recovers the physical interface, if you will, not the code behind it! There are also companies that claim they can recover everything , including code with the exception of code comments. Because of this, the general opinion is that they're actually simply re-creating the db from scratch, and their fees reflect this!

At least this OP admits that the db didin't originate with him! I just love the ones who "don't want to have to spend all that time recreating all those forms that I've already made" but don't have a clue where the original .MDBs could possible be!
