I have created a search criteria, I want the user to get a message
such as "there are no records for that particular search criteria".

Would you know what code I need for this message to appear on the report.

It depends on how you are performing the search as there are a few different ways. Post your full search code so we can tell which method you have used.

If you are running a report, you can use the "On No Data" event to trigger your message box.
