Hi,
i have a database. this database is stored on a networkserver, and should open by default as shared. It works sometimes. But the problem is, that sometimes a error apears: "unregocnized databank format" with the networkpath of the DB. I can not save anzthing anymore. When i closed the DB and reopen, access tells me DB file is damaged, but i can not repair, unless all other user have closed the db, it tells the db is already open exclusive by the other user, and i should be that user, access tells me(it is my computername). I searched konwledge base, but didn't found something, so anyone knows what this might be?

Traden,

There are many things that it could be! But I would recommend doing a search at the Microsoft Access support page
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;acc

and check the Knowledge Base and search for jetcomp. Jetcomp if you are not aware of it is a handy tool for repairing and compacting your database, and has often been a lifesaver for me. It is important that you read the information associated with the specific jetcomp you need and use. The jetcomp you use should match the jet engine used for your version of Access (97, 2000, 2002, etc.). Also to do the repair/compact, all your users should be exited out of your database. I've noticed that this problem can often be caused through a network failure or transmission problem. In the case of a Netware server installation make certain that you set the "maximum record locks per connection" to the largest allowable value (10,000) (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 109400).
