Here at the YMCA we will be opening a new facility and might be needing to share our current database with the new facility so members can move between facilities.
Currently how are database works is that the database is just a simple Access DB, its located on the "Salesdesk" computer (WinXP box). A share was made so that the "frontdesk" can acess the database.
The "salesdesk" is where any information to the DB is entered, new members. The "frontdesk" opens the DB and just has a barcode scanner for member cards. This works good for us right now.
We have been told that to share the database with the new facility all we have to do is setup a VPN across a WAN link and let the new facility frontdesk computer access it like the current frontdesk computer does. If we did this the best connection we would be able to get would be an ADSL connection upto 2.5mbps down and upto 1.0mbps up.
It would be great if you guys would be able to point me in the right direction to set this up for the YMCA. I am not a huge DB person my self nor did I make this current database.
