I'm making a multi user database (funny that on an access board)

i need to stop 2 people viewing the same record at the same time on a form.

I realise I can't use record locks as they lock a series of records, but is there a way to stop a user accessing a record is it is already opened for editing within a form.

cheers

Here is a handy-dandy quote:

Specify whether an Access database opens in shared or exclusive mode by default
This procedure affects the way a Microsoft Access database is opened only on your computer. It does not affect the default for users on other computers.

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

2. Click the Advanced tab.

3. If you want others to be able to open the Access database at the same time you have it open, click Shared.
If you want sole access to the Access database when you have it open, click Exclusive.

-- This quote was taken from the Access Help File when doing a lookup on "Exclusive"...hope it helps.

cause the people using it still think they have to feed the mouse that sits by their computer :-)

btw I sorted it now. Made a couple of routines to mark active records and used a filter to not display any record that was active.

Cheers though.
