New link to mySQL table

Hi *,

I have a database that connects to a mySQL server via ODBC. Currently, I have 10 linked tables available. Now, I changed the underlying mySQL scheme and inserted a new table, which I would like to connect to Access! Unfortunately, I haven't figured out a way to do that in Access 2007!

Anyone here who knows how to link new tables to an Access db that is already connected via ODBC?

Afraid I don't have 2007, but you could at least delete the tables, then link it again.

I do not have Access 2007, but in Access 2003, I have always been able to select an individual tablename or viewname from the Import Data window. Are you not able to do that any more?

I did this recently but am unable to connect to my machine with 2007 at the moment.

As I recall, to relink required nothing different than older version of Access. That is, right click on any linked table in what would be the database window, select "linked table manager" or its equivalent, and select/relink all the tables you want to refresh.

As far as adding a new link, I think it may be on the "Create" "menu item" in the ribbon, though I can't remember exactly.

2007 was designed so everyone would have to re-learn everything they already knew. Generates additional training revenue.

Is linked table manager supposed to work with ODBC sources as well?

I've actually never thought to use that, but that's probably because I elected for DNS-less connections.

That's good to know- even if I may ever never use it.

Why burden my users with DNSs and Linking tables manually? (Not to say it was supposed to be for end users- it can be just be used by developers)

Thanks for all your input! I found the right option in Access 2007 (I really have to get use to the new UI). See the enclosed picture for more information (click on the 'more' button in order to import ODBC sources)
