Newbie question..Please don't flame.

I am extremely new to Access and I am trying to write to do something I feel should be easy but I am too dumb to figure it out. I am trying to create a new field where it will show a row face for a library. I have a "Record ID" field that goes from 1 to 97059 and for example my first row is "02a" and I want to put that in my new field named "RowFace" what I need is where (If "RecordID" <= 992 then "Rowface" = "02a")... How do I do this Access? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I am using Access 2010

You should be able to do what you want with an Update Query

What exactly have you tried since I gave you the complete playlist of Access 2010 videos, and Crystal's e-book with all sorts of info?

Have you designed the tables that you will be using?

Did you actually go to the link that John gave you in post #2?

Show us some of what you have tried and we'll see if we can make it work.

Hmmm...hard to give you anything but the most general of answers with such general information.

Do you have the table layout? Is there a rule for what you want what field set to?

With that information, it should be easy to formulate an update query.

Thank you so much, I am sorry for being such a newb. My first table has 1-97,059 records with 01a,01b,02a,02b.......47a,47b as my rowfaces. But I also have a table that has a field that designates the range that looks like this
RowFace...... RecIDstart...... RecIDend
02a .....................1................... 992
02b ...................993................ 1969 so and so forth ending at
47b................. 96203............. 97059

is there anyway I could use the update query with using this table instead of inputting each rowface individually?

You haven't answered any of the questions that have been asked of you throughout this thread. This most recent post does NOT help us to help you. It is dis-jointed and has nothing for us to reference to understand your problem and how to help you solve it.
