Hi all,
I have a form for entering transactions for my business. On it, there is a field for selecting the customer.

On the very bottom of the screen where you can move to the 1st record, next record, last record, etc., I've noticed an issue.

By clicking next record, it doesn't take me to the next record in sequence of the transaction. It takes me to the next transaction for my customer. How is this happening?

See the example below please...

By clicking next record, it takes me from 0001 to 0046, when it should go to the next one in sequence, which would be 0002. The reason it goes to 0046 is because the customer for my 1st transaction has his next transaction at number 46.

So, by navigating to the next record, it's not taking me to the actual next transaction, it's giving me the next transaction for that specific customer.

Thanks in advance

I believe that you have a filter turned on that took you to the customer in question. To get to the second record in the table, you will need to turn the filter off.

Is this a subform? It sounds like it is, and there is a link in the Parent/Child relationship. What you are describing is usually a desired method of record navigation. Most people who post this topic are posting because the said relationship is missing.

You are clicking on the Navigation button of the subform. If you want to go to the next customer, you need to Enable the Navigation bar of your main form and use that.

Thank you to all who have responded...I will go ahead and take a look with these tips and let you know how I come out.

This subform is on a tab within the main form. It's just to show my customer's information.

vbaInet) Remember the other thread that you were helping me with?? It's that same form. I'm just showing my customer's (that I selected in the combo box) info down below on a subform on a tab.

When I use the main form navigation button, it takes me to the next transaction record involving that same customer. It no longer goes in order of the actual transaction numbers...

I don't really :o

When I use the main form navigation button, it takes me to the next transaction record involving that same customer. It no longer goes in order of the actual transaction numbers...
I now suspect that the main form's Record Source is not unique. You have probably Joined the Customers table with the Transacions or Orders table.

Is there a way that I can make the main form's record source unique again without removing anything?

If my assumption in my last post was right, then you need to base your form on the Customers table alone.

Well...I'm seeing what the problem is but still not sure how to fix it. On a tab within my main form, I added fields per the 'Add Existing Fields' Icon. In the middle section where it says "Fields available in related tables," I took those fields and dragged them onto my tab within my main form. Ever since I did that, I cannot get my main navigation to go the actual next transaction record, i.e., (0001, 0002, 0003, 0004,) etc.

Instead, it goes by the customer ID. Is there a way to include these fields that I added, but still have my main form navigation go by transaction number only?

One problem leading to another. Your form wasn't properly designed. Re-think your form layout and flow of data.

I did and now have these textboxes' control source lookup the value in another table. It now no longer effects my record navigation

You basically need a form and subform solution. The subform will show related records linked to your main form.
