Hi guys

I have a problem with my booking form.

On the table the number is a primary key and is a auto number

now I have used this on a form but It does not update and find the next suitable number.

I am using a text box.

How would I make it update automatically on the form as soon as I load the form up.

AutoNumbers are not really for human consumption. They are created as soon as the record goes Dirty.

I have created the table with the auto number but it does not update on the form automatically, how can i do this on the form?

I assume you are displaying the AutoNumber field on your form. This control should be locked so the user does not try to change the value. Complete editing of another control and move off of that control. The AutoNumber field should update. If not then issue a Me.Refresh (not a Requery!).

If the autonumber field is bound to the table then it should update when you advance to a new record.

HI there rural

tried Me.Refresh on dirty, no luck

the fild within the table is a auto number but it does not refresh to the a new number. just keeps on one and there is already a one on the table.

You would need to move to a new record to get another Autonumber.

HI Rual guy

Yess the table primary is the auto number

but it is not updating. Every time I load my form, the the text box is not reading the record in the table and not updating?

Have you turned on the NavButtons for your form so you can move around in the recordset?

Hi Rural guy

I am using combo boxes. but the id number for the id auto id number is a text box.

How about doing a Compact and Repair and then zipping up your db and posting it here. Remove amy sensitive data of course.

Hi Rural

I have attached my database. The form i am working is the adding booking form and that is coming from the booking table.

I just want the form to have the booking ID to have a auto number as soon as I open it.

Are you saying that you want the Add Booking Form to open to a NEW record?
