ODBC, RDC, Data Control

I think in need to add a Remote Data Control (RDC) to my project.

Perhaps I am just being thick but is this the same control as the Data Control which is added Microsoft Data Bound Grid Control?

If not how is it added?

Why do you need RDC or Grid control? Surely a datasheet and linked table would be simpler?

Sorry but I am out of my depth on this. s far as I understood the book I was reading this is what I have to do. As for datasheet and linked table, whats this?

I am being asked to write code to link up with an access database, perhaps they want all the coding etc done from within access but I would like to know about ODBC but the books I have looked at are not very helpful.

I guess I need somewone to explain in very simple trems how to use visual basic and connect to an access database via odbc if this can be done. in the meantime i need to look a bit more at access.
