Odd Critreia Problem with Update Query

and secondly because I don't actually know all the details myself.

LOL, nothing like a bit of honesty to stop questions, anyway glad you are able to make progress.

I'm still curious why copying and pasting didn't work. My best theory, based on the evidence at hand, was that it was some copying the displayed value rather than the actual value.
Once again you have answered your own question:). It was the displayed value that you copied and not the underlying value.

Is that typical of Access? Is there a way to copy the underlying value?

I admit I have more experience copying and pasting data in Excel, where it copies the underlying value (or formula) rather than the displayed value unless specifically told to do otherwise.

Hmmm I've got a field in a table set up as dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn if I enter seconds it does not display them unless I click on the field, however it does copy them if I copy that field to another.

BTW how do you set up dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn AM I have totally failed to achieve a medium time with a date.
