I have Professional 2002 which is no longer supported as far as I can see. Now that I am trying to create a database for my business I think it is probably wise to upgrade. Professional 2007 is currently about £350 and this would be difficult for me to afford. Can any of you answer any of the following questions to help me in my decision?

A) Is the price likely to drop on the release of 2010?

B) Will 2007 still be supported by Microsoft for a good few years yet?

C) If I need to wait to save and until the price comes down a bit I will have months of data to enter for this new financial year. Would it be a mistake to continue building it in 2002 with a view to importing it into 2007 later or would this cause me lots of problems?

D) Is anyone aware of anywhere legit that I can get it cheaper from at the moment?

There are plenty of developers using this, and earlir versions of Access, at the present so I don't think the need to upgrade is mission critical. However this is up to you, and also depends on the system requirements.

Personally, if it works for you and you don't need the security updates then you can stay with what you have. And if I was to go with 2007 or 2010, I would wait for 2010 as it fixes a lot of the pain points in 2007, especially around the modification of the ribbon and all.

Well I now have the beta of 2010 and love it so it looks as though I'll be committed to buying it when it comes out now as I'm using it to build my application.

Still not quite sure what the ribbon is though let alone about it's modifications!
