One to Many Many Many.....

I typed this once before and lost all the info before it posted, so I'm making this one short and sweet..

I have 3400 components in inventory.
Each component is assigned to a category.
(Ex. Diode, Resistor, Dials, Amps, and IC's)
Each component also has an individual part number and name.
(Ex. Dial, Spectrl, 18-11 and Connector, Mate-N-Lok 4, 1-480702-0)

I am building a database to track all component failures for the last five years, and am trying to eliminate inconsistent data entry.
I would like to have a lookup field that contains all Component types, when selected only displays Parts in that category, and then automatically fills in the part number?

Is this even possible?!??

It sounds like you want cascading combo boxes. I have a sample here:
