Im trying to open my database switchboard without having the whole Access program open. Is there a way to have only the database open without the whole program?
Thanks

This is a unique question - Congratulations.

Could you explain why you wish to do this as I don't see what the purpose would be.

lol, thanks I think..
The person that will be entering the data and running the reports really doesnt need to be able to modify the database, thats why Id like to be able to just open the switchboard to access the forms and reports. If I need to work on the database Id open access and then open the file.
I hope that made sense.

Sorry, guess I got it wrong. So, all you need is to provide a form for doing entry, set it to open in the TOOLS > STARTUP options and uncheck the show database window in the same TOOLS > STARTUP options.

Then, you can open the db window by pressing F11 when it is open, or when you open it hold your shift key down.

I think thats what Im talking about. I cant find the TOOLS >Startup options though.

Which version of Access are you using?

If Access 2007, it is under the Round Office logo and then Access Options at the bottom right and then Current Database from the list on the left.

Im using 2007. Im in current database but I dont see tools or startup options.
Thanks for all your help.

Oh ok. I tried that. Is there some way to hide the whole access window other then the switchboard? Id like to just have the switchboard on the screen to open the forms and reports if possible. Is there a way to hide the rest of the program or is it too complicated?

It's pretty complex as you will see if you read my previous response where I gave two links.

What if I just want to open up half a form, add it to a PivotChart, and then export it to Word? Do I need applications for that? ;)

(Couldn't resist...)

I was looking at that other thread and being relatively inexperienced with Access Im not sure where to make all those changes. Im guessing its going to have to stay the way it is. I thought in the older versions of Access you could just open the switchboard and forms without having the whole program window up.

Why don't you split the database and have two different front ends? You can restrict your data entry user by just giving them whatever you want.
