Dear All,
I have a DB that generates email to a group of user to warn them that a new request (IDReq) was posted. The mail get from access some data regarding the ID number, customer, applicant and so on.. and add also the link to open the db.
Someone knows if is possible to add to the mail the exact link to open the specified record in one click?
I tried to find similar post in the forum but no useful result. Thanks for your help :D
regards,
Marco

In my opinion I think the answer to your question is not really. What you are thinking about is like a link on a web page which opens a program to a specific place?

I could think of two options which I have never tried but it might spark a discussion for you here;

1. Put some code in Outlook - eg create a toolbar button in outlook. Then the user selects the email (they do not need to open it) then they click your special button. Your code would check the email - get an ID number from for example the subject then either open access or simple call a public function in access which passes your id number which opens this record.

2. You currently have a link to open the MDB in the email. Upon opening the DB it could check if Outlook is running. If yes it could check the currently selected item in outlook (as the user has just clicked on the email it will be selected) then check a hidden code field to make sure it is an email that came from your MDB in the first place (eg in the mileage field) then read your ID from the email and then go to the record.

Let me know if I am not clear.

1 would be my choice as I already know how to make tool bars in outlook and already have coded addins, but I think that no. 2 would be easier to do.
