Opening forms

I have the Access app window open with the start up form maximized. Now I want to go from that form to another form. In the past I simply docmd.open the second form, then docmd.close the first form. Finally I docmd.maximize the second form onOpen. When I do this there is a screen flicker that would be nice to get rid of. Any suggestions?
