I have asked this question before but cannot put the answer into practice. I currently have 2 tables:

tbl 1 - customers
customer ID
Customer
Address
etc

tbl 2 - Orders
Order ID
Customer ID
Item
Quantity
Size
Price
Postage
Total

Currently if customer x orders 3 items,I have 3 order numbers with a lot of repetition.
I would like:

customer y orders:
2 x pairs of shoes (2 different sizes)
1 x Jumper
1 x shirt
1 x pair of socks
2 x pair of trousers (1 size 32, 1 size 34)

I would like this all to be the same order number instead of the 7 order numbers i currently have.
I have related the tables by Customer ID. I am sure there is a very easy solution to this.
If anyone can help, I (and my worn out fingers) would be eternally grateful.
I really do need help in the simplest terms possible.

Thank you in advance

Add another table.

tbl 1 - customers
customer ID
Customer
Address
etc

tbl 2 - Orders
Order ID
Customer ID
Postage
Total

tbl 3 - OrderDetails
Order ID
Item
Quantity
Size
Price

Then have tbl 3 in a SubForm where tbl 2 is the RecordSource and the OrderID is the LinkChild/MasterFields. Have the SubForm in Continuous Mode.

What version of Access? Try a Save As from the Database window.

i have both 2000 & 2003

How do i set a subform. Sorry for being so uneducated in access. This is my first attempt

Just key in SubForm to Access Help (not VBA Help) and there are step by step instructions.

Go onto your form, and on the toolbar, you need to click on the button which is a square, with what looks like some text and 2 small squares inside it. If you hover over the symbols, it should say "Subform/Subreport". Click on that, and the wizard is pretty good! Select which table you want to display in your subform that way. Follow the instructions carefully though!

Its ok, im not very educated either! You can pick it up quickly though by asking these guys lots of questions!!!
