Outlaw Shovel

Lot of the 'occupy' movement people were thoughtful enough to write their political statements on buildings (etc) with sidewalk chalk, intent is not to permanently 'tag' things like a graffiti artist would do... so they were arrested for defacing property none the less... and it has filtered down to the point where children have been prevented from using sidewalk chalk on sidewalks for the same reason: defacing property.
Guess the IRS will be going after the lemonaid stands next...

we don't know the whole story, but they are trying to stop a women for feeding the poor. Of course they are not poor until BHO says they are poor.

A lot of people are quick to judge and slow to help, I would rather help first and then bother with it later (only if helping bothers me - which it does not).

In Montreal across from the old Forum there is a park where some homeless congregate as it is close to the Old Brewery Mission where they might get food and rest. On the opposite side of the part is a McDonalds restaurant which has a policy of throwing out edible food after 20 minutes. They have a 10 foot fence topped with barbed wire around the dumpster, both the gate to this compound and the dumpster is padlocked... mean while the Mission is often closed because there is a lack of donated food... something is wrong with some people's thinking.

Hey fifty…., next time I go to Canada will you give me a ride on your bike, just for old time sake. Let me tell you a dumb thing I did the last time I went to Canada. I was doing a fair in Detroit and had a lot of time to kill before my next fair in OK City, OK so my wife and I decided to leave the RV in Detroit, and go over to Niagara Falls and get a motel. The back of the pickup is loaded with plastic storage containers with literature. We were detained for over an hour at the border while they went thru ever container. The agent wasn’t happy either. He said next time leave them home.

Border crossing is nothing like back in the day - we would cross and just go and sign into USA in the big book at the diner/convenience store if it was off hours - have to sign out of USA if it was off hours as well. You would not dare 'sneak in' in case you were not able to 'sneak out' then you would have a lot of explaining to do on why you were in USA unannounced... also if you got pulled over by a county mounty you would have A LOT of explaining to do to a number of people.
hahaha - just remembered one time we were going through a town in VT on a Saturday night and there was a local deputy sitting on the hood of a patrol car in the middle of the street with the cherry on top rotating - watching someone who had to 'pay their debt' by painting the center line of the road with a can of paint and a brush. When I slowed to pass I just had to ask the officer "What did he do?" and the reply was "Nothing he is going to do twice!" hahaha

Indeed if you come up I will let you take a bike for a scoot on the road, we can ride out to "Patate 4 Coins" (french for 4 corner french fries) and get a poutine (traditional artery clogging dish consisting of french fries, cheddar cheese curds and gravy).

I've heard those are so amazing! I miss cheese curds, too. I was born in Wisconsin. There is nothing like Wisconsin cheese fresh from the cheese farms.

Given all the (US) paranoia concerning security, what is it like now? (US to Canada)
We have not gone into Canada for many many years and we are contemplating going into Ontario/Quebec in the ambiguous future.

That brings back memories also. My mother was born in Three Rivers, and we went to Canada often on my Dads vacation time. One of the relatives we visited was a cousin that had a French fries stand out in front of their house. The real dish I crave most is Old English style fish and chips. Big John Booty says if I visit there are many all around his house. I live in FL when I am not traveling, but I was born and brought up in Woonsocket, RI. When I was a kid Woonsocket was 85% French Canadian, and we had at last count 65 fish & chip places.

Passports are now a must - no more drivers licenses, library cards or letter from your pastor accepted...
South to north crossing by car is not too much hassle, they just ask everyone crossing rather then the random 1 in 7 like before, there are a lot of people from Canada going across the border to do 'cross border shopping' so weekends are super busy long lines going both directions. Tuesday and Wednesday are best either direction.
Flying to Canada is like flying anywhere (domestic or international), 2 hours after arriving at an airport and you are still in line awaiting to go through security and you start to wonder why you did not hop on a Greyhound Bus or go AMTRACK... Custom at the end of the trip is similar to driving across, they ask everyone questions but they know everyone has already been screened by security so more like a technicality.

Canada is still a excellent place to visit, people are laid back - make sure you have a American flag pin on your coat if you are in Quebec so service staff will know to try to serve you in english first.

If visiting Montreal the best EVER fish restaurant is "Peters Cape Cod" which is west of the city in Ste Anne de Bellevue.
There are a surprizing number of french speaking people in New England, mostly Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

We have some good Sea Food restaurant here in FL, and I go often, but they are not Old English Style. That's why I miss them, I always seem to crave what I can't have. The other food I miss are called Coney Island Weiners. The only two places I have found them is RI and Michigan.
