Hey everyone. I'm an amateur access user. I own a small appliance repair business and i'm trying to create a data bast that tracks weekly and monthly income and expenses. I'm having an impossible time figuring out how to use a form to input fuel cost(s) by date and amount and then display that info on a report. i.e. [fuelcost] and [fueldate] are on a table. i would like to display the current months fuel cost on a report. please help... and i'll fix your dishwasher :)

The best way for us to help you is for you to show us with data. This will require 2 sets:

A. STarting data from your table(s). Be sure to include table and field names and enough data to cover all cases.

B. Expected results of A. Show us what you expect your report to look like when you feed it the data from A.

Again, 2 sets of data--starting and expected results.

you need to take into account month and year - a common way to do it is something like

SELECT sum(fuelcost) as monthsfuel
FROM myTable
WHERE format(fuelDate,"yymm")=format(date,"yymm")

I create a simple database based on what you described in your post, not sure is it meet your requirement.

I'm guessing that is in response to my post? If so, we will call the data in tblFuelCost the A data I requested. Now please provide the B data I requested.

I am responding to the post owner in this thread. sorry for confusing.

No, I'm the one who is sorry. I should have paid attention that you were not the initial poster.
