no, you need to put the ids in the contacts table

but you dont necessarily need to bring those details into an entry form to record the contact details - the details you need are the text of the contact, the date and so on

the linked field values can be obtained by selecting appropriate values from a combo box, or using other techniques

okay i think i get it...i have the structure set up now. just need to figure out how to work cascading combo boxes. any help you can send my way would be very appreciated!
