The biggest problem with printing vs. viewing is the difference in resolution between a printer and a display.
If you have this super whizbang display that shows, like 1 billion colors (30-bit = 3 x 1024 color digital-to-analog converters), you could probably show the Mona Lisa perfectly. But if the color resolution of the printer is less than that, you will get a form of visual effect called "solarization" (and it has other names, too.) In it, you see what appears to be lines where colors and hues change abruptly.
If you want to see the "real" image you are about to print, you need to get your printer's manual and look up the specs to see color resolution. Then set your display to the same (or closest possible) resolution. Only at that exact setting will it be WYSIWYG.
