I am having a problem sorting the attached spreadsheet. I use ASAP utilities to fill L2:M21 with random numbers.

After doing that I try to sort the standings by 1rst sort-pct. desending and 2nd sort- +/- desending. I go to data-sort to sort the data and it does not sort at all. Any Ideas?

BTW
The 2 charts in A8:F13 and A15:F20 are autofilled according to how the schedule is filled in.

what does the sort box say after pushing OK?

is either column i or h formatted as text?

what part of the sheet are you selecting before you sort it?

some of these issues might cause it to mess up. i tried to do a sort with your sheet in 2007 and it gave me a weird message before sorting telling me that some columns i specified are formatted as text but look like numbers...

I know you only have 5 teams, and this does not answer your question but I am looking for some sort of algorythmn that I can first enter the number of teams in the league next the interval between matches (optional) and it goes away and creates fixture list which also creates reverse fixtures over two halfs of a season. Again making sure that one team cannot play itself.

Adam,

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Both Columns H and I are formatted as numbers.

When I want to sort I select A1:I6. I also tell it thatrow 1 is the headers.

When I click the button to sort it does notty give me any kind of error message. It just sorts whatever way it wants.

As for the weird message. I'm not sure why it would be telling you that. I made sure I formatted those 2 areas for numbers.

David,

I'm not sure of you question. I make the schedule using a spreadsheet called SportsFixtures.xls to create the schedule.
