How is your invoice build? Is it a printed/exported Microsoft Access report, or is it a Microsoft Word document which you create via VBA?
In case it is a Microsoft Word document you can do this right easy in Word.

From Word 2013 on and newer it is part of Word itself: Field codes: DisplayBarcode (and QR-Codes).
