query from a query

I am revamping a 13000 record DB that I started in Access 2.0 many years ago. I am now using 2010. I am trying to study nomination and get this new DB the best I can, but normalization is a little over my head. Off of my main table I have a query that I call Alpha which puts everything in alphabetical order by name. For good normalization and good programing is it better to base all my other queries off of the Alpha query or off the main table.

For what it is worth, I always base it on the Alpha query
