Hi all

I am trying to give a new user access to the front end of a DB.

When I copy the FE from the server to the local C drive ( Windows XP)

the FE loses all its relationships and the user is not able to query anything.

I go back to the server and find that the FE is just fine on the file server.

I also tried running the FE from my PC ( Windows 2000 SP4) and it works fine.

Do any of you know what the issue could be.
I also checked to see that the new user has permissions on the folder on which the file is located on the server and she does...

Any thoughts on what the problem could be would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

It is expected that relationship should disappear on the FE. The back-end still has all the relationship.

That said, what do u mean by she is not able to query anything?Need more explanation.

Are you sure that the FE you gave her is properly linked to the BE and it can find the BE?

relationships disappear!!

Hi - Thanks for you post. I see that the Linked Tables are there and have all data in them.

Access gives me a message that speicfies that the user may not have permissions to access the server drive but I know that the user indeed does have permission to access the back end on the server!!

Wonder what the problem could be.

The FE file on my PC has all the relationships intact. This means that the FE is seeing the relationships on the BE but On her PC all relationships on FE disappear. (which probably means that she is not able to access/see the BE on the server- which I think is the problem)

When she tries to access a form and run a dynamic query or report - access says Access encountered an error.

It could be that the user is not able to access the Server where the back end is - but I have checked permissions on the server and she does have permissions.!!

Thanks

Permissions may not be the issue. It may be where the FE think BE is.

Did you refresh the links to the tables via Linked Table Manager in Tools menu?

relationships disappear

Hi - Once again , thanks for your post.

I checked the location:

Its L:\Access databases\TIP-Database\TIP_be.mdb

and the error message states exactly the same path and that its not able to find it.

I also check the letter of the mapped drive on the user PC and its L- so no issues there too!!

The FE connects just fine from my PC to the BE form the same location.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
