'Required' property?

Back in 2007, I created and starting using a A2002 database to track purchases. Almost every day for 7 years, I've entered transactions (up to 5,875 so far) without a hitch. Yesterday and today I'm getting...
Error message: "The field 'CREDITS.Trans' cannot contain a Null value because the Required property for this field is set to True. Enter a value in this field."
The field in question is in a subform - with Link Child Fields "Trans" and Link Master Fields "Trans" applying.
Once I click "OK" and reenter the value, it accepts. Annoying me that I can't find the problem. I haven't altered the design in several years. The only change I've made is in using Win7 instead of XP (but that was over a year ago). Any clues? Thanks.

Any chance (Go Look in your Table) that their are Null values?
Set to True in Table or on a form?

No, I've looked back to 2004 (the table was carried forward in 2007) and neither the debits nor the credit tables contain null values. There are thirty or more 0.00 values, minus values, and plus values. Nice try.

Either your code has changed or the record source has been modified. Are you importing by chance? Sounds like an index problem to me. Don't know why without seeing the whole picture.

Sorry for not being more help!

wilpeter:
Can you post a copy of the db in A2003 mdb format.

Weird behaviour out-of-the-blue can sometimes be caused by references going missing (which can happen if an application Access links to got updated and wiped some .dll) - se if any references are missing (code window>tools>references).

I appreciate your collective interest. However,...
burrina: I don't use code and haven't (deliberately at least) modified any. I'm not importing - it's stand alone. I'm not on line and it's not a shared db.
bob fitz: Reluctant to share due to it being a db of 10 years of my personal finances.
spikepl: the db is not linked to any other app or file. In 'References' the first 5 are selected--but I use no VB.
I return to my question: Where in Properties do I find a field's 'Required' property? Sorry to be a nuisance.:)

I return to my question: Where in Properties do I find a field's 'Required' property?
Open the table in design view. Click the appropriate field and then view its properties.

Have done so, Bob. The only field in the three tables that has "Yes" for it's Required property is the Key Field (Yes, no duplicates). The Credits table and Debits table both have "no". Which is why I'm puzzled at the message--which, when I say OK, is removed without objection.
(Apologies for not having thought of the Table properties, though):o

Veeerrrry interesting! On exiting Access (and having visited the References), I was given a parting message: "Your version of Microsoft Agent isn't compatible with this version of Windows" (turns out Win7 didn't come with Microsoft Agent and it has taken 2 years for the program to notice this!). So now I'm visiting MS Agent HomePage to download it! Will post after I see if this solves the problem. Thanks.:banghead:

Scary stuff! Back in 2009, MS decided not to update Microsoft Agent in Win7. I have Win7 x64 and they've emailed me a zipped file called HotFix. Before I decide to install, I read the disclaimer and warnings. In case it doesn't work, I'm supposed to back up both files and computer! I've too much stuff in the PC to do so; so I'm not going to take the chance. I'll put up with the inconvenience. Meanwhile, I have another PC with Win7 32bit that I'm betting is just waiting to serve me the same warning! Just a heads up for anyone using Access 2003 in Win 7.
