Resizing memo field according to amount of text

Good Morning all, happy Friday!

Can anyone help with this one...

I have a memo field on a continuous form for users to type 'notes' in. These notes can vary hugely in size, e.g. one entry may only be 1 line long whereas others may be 10 lines or more.
At the moment I have a fixed size memo field, if I try and compensate for the larger entries then I end up with a lot of white space (which has been criticised), if I expand the field to allow for the smaller entries then the larger ones are hardly shown and it becomes difficult to read them (using scroll bar) as only 1 or 2 lines are visible at a time.

Does anyone know of a way that I can have the field's height adjust depending on how much text has been entered?

We do have another system at work which allows for this so I know it must be achievable... I just don't have a clue how...??

is this on the report? if so set the field property to "can grow" and "can shrink"

Horror vacui is a nasty affliction that hits many - especially those that do not have to pay the bill for development

There are different things you can do:

1. You can shrink the memo field to just one line, but for edits/viewing tell ppl to hit SHIFT F2 then the thing appears in a Zoom box.

2. You could make a popup/zoombox appear if someone clicks in that field(control?)

3. I have an instance where the memofield is in a subform displayed as datasheet. On the parent form I have a huge fat control where the content of that memo is displayed. For edits, the user needs to double click it, and a pop up form allows edits ...

There are many variations on all this.

users can click shift-F2 to expand a list box to a bigger size for editing purposes. try that first (spike said that above also)

Thanks for the response; I have gone with a zoombox for the time being... we will see what the boss has to say, hopefully it will suffice...
