Ribbons

Hi guys

Is it possible in Access 2010 to create a new ribbon to show when a particular report / form is open?

I have read loads about being able to customise the ribbon and very easily added my 'test' tab but when i go back into Access all the other default tabs - Home, Create, Database Tools ect ect... show on the ribbon as well.

I want to be able to have my own ribbon(s) which show when a partcular form / report is open. But what I don't want is the users of the DB to be able to access any of the default ribbon tabs. ( I'm assuming that 'Ribbon Name' in the form / report property sheets allows you to choose the ribbon you want displayed at a particular time?)

So depending on what the form / report contains will dictate what is on the ribbon - if that makes sense?


Anyone got any advice on this please?

And then............ You can email this guy and maybe buy his program too, find out that it doesn't work in a normal windows environment and that you actually need the windows experience of Bill Gates, then email him again to tell him that it doesn't work, get told that you've insulted him and he will no longer support you (even though he won't support you anyway) and be left to your own devices to try and figure out a useless program that needs super hero powers of knowledge to get it to even think about connection to a database which it supposedly it's whole intention!!!

There are better, working, free ribbon tools available. AG is not the only living person on this planet who can do this and really, should be the last........

I have a registered copy of this applicaiton and I can say that it really does work. There is some work involved but it is not that difficult. the developer has always been very responsive to any questions I have had and has helped in every way possible.

The ribbon is a cake walk once you understand the callbacks. Then tackle the XML which is very easily solved by creating class structures that generate the XML strings. After that, all you have to do is create as many object instances as you need and populate the class properties the way you want them and write the code for the object in question. I wouldnt pay for something that is easily solved with code.

Gina - thanks again ! I have worked with Mr B an awful lot with the devolpment of this current DB and without him (mainly) but also others on this forum, I would not be anywhere near finished and it's been over 6 months already !! but the end of the tunnel is near !
