Err yes

They are rioting about a 3-4 year pay freeze(and reduction)
public sector works reduced pay - retirement age increased from x to 65 +


- Greece civil servants are pretty corrupt
the tax system is almost not working

if the tax man visits - he will tell you that you tax bill is €1000 but if you pay him €100 he will make it €500 (example)

there are civil servants working in the goverment that get hired do a years or twos work then - find a side line job and then do that while still drawing a salary form the goverement - - it really is pretty f*cked up
the people of Greece are lovely -but the officals are really screwing the system

i heard from a friend that about 25 percent of the greek workforce works for the government. laughing...

how long will it be here in this country until everyone works for the government? I'm going to apply for the gov immediately! sounds like a hell of a career!

From some reading I did recently, Greece could probably escape their debt crisis in a very short time by reforming tax collection alone. Less than 25% of the wealthiest people in the country actually pay any taxes at all.

Here's an example: There is a tax on swimming pools. From tax rolls, perhaps 6 people in a large neighborhood report having a pool. From satellite photos of the same neighborhood, the number should be around 500. Property taxes in general are not being paid uniformly because you can bribe a tax assessor or collector.

It was in the queries , here, it was not his first time as Bob explains above. Hardly the way to reply to people needing help.

And this extra part was because he was given a 7 day time out and then promptly registered as bkwatkins and posted here. So his vacation was extended to 21 days.

As Brian said, he was warned several times via PM and has continued to do the same in the help areas. Hopefully he will stop doing that after his return (unless he registers another time and does the same which would probably lead to a worse sanction).

What it really comes down to is that the help forums, not to mention the reason for these forums existing, is to help people. If you find that someone doesn't deserve a response from you for ANY reason, DON'T RESPOND! A VERY sarcastic response is not useful and makes the forum look bad. We try to generate traffic, not make people seek help elsewhere.

from the way the post about the ban was written it seemed as though trumpet boy got banned for sarcasm in the watercooler, thats why I asked where it was. The ban he got seems fair enough, though might be better to make it permanent

Why was he being sarcastic, did anyone bother to ask if he has some underlying problem, why was his thread in the cooler deleted and not the original in the main forum, and why has the permanent ban as posted on Saturday been changed to a 3week ?

I agree with Rich. We should set up a councelling session for users that display "odd" behaviour like this, it is obvious that there are external pressures causing them to snap at strangers in such a way.

If therapy does not improve their behaviour within the main forum they should be bannished for ever into the void of the (I don't know, web or internet Cherugh will help me out on this ).

Joking aside, I do think that bad behaviour toward those who are seeking assistance should be dealt with more severely than they are in the Water cooler. People do, normally, join this forum to get assistance, not to be ridiculed. That's what the water cooler is here for
