Running Total

How can i Begin to create a query with a running total?

I have the following columns

Ranch_Block
MeasurementDate
AcreIn

What happens is that once a week or so they take a mesaurement for every block and tell me the acre inches.

But i want to have a running total by block

for example
Block,MeasurementDate,AcreIn,RunTot
001-01,5/9/09,.5,.5
001-01,5/17/09,.7,.12
001-01,5/29/09,.5,17
001-02,5/9/09,.3,.3
001-02,5/27/09,.9,.12
etc....


So far I have

RanchBlock: Ranch_Block

RunTot: Format(DSum("[AcreIn]","Usable Water Query","[Ranch_Block]<="& [RanchBlock] & ""),"0")

and its not working...so anything would be really appreciated..

You'd want the block to be equal to the current block, and the MeasurementDate to be less than or equal to the current MeasurementDate. You'll probably have to bracket the table name due to the inadvisable spaces. Good reference here on the different syntax requirements:
