runtime module access

I made a training database for my company on a memory stick. "plug and use."
Since everybody has access 2003 I had no problem doing so.
However it's now decided that we'll use the same set up for some of our customers. Meaning some people will have access but who knows what version of access others might not even have access.

I red that access developer has a runtime module.
Does any one have any experience with it.
I remember that dBase5 had such a part as well (Nightmares still hunt me)

I would like to stay with my memory stick sollution. Meaning all the data on the stick and no downloads to the PC needed. Plug in the stick in an other Pc and it runs again.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?
The long term goal is to make it all internet based however due to the common time pressure I need a direct sollution!

The Access 2003 runtime comes with the Developer Extensions. Here's a link to the info.

Windows programs need to install themselves on the computer in order to run. They make registry entries and require certain things to be in certain places. They cannot run from removable drives unless you install them there on each computer. So although you can install the Access runtime to run from your memory stick, that still will not enable it to run by just plugging into a different PC because Access will not have been installed on the second computer to run from the memory stick and the memory stick might even load as a different drive letter which would further complicate the issue.

If you need something self-contained you'll probably need something non-windows based because everything including the .net framework requires stuff to be installed on a local PC to run.

Thanks Pat, I allready feared that. I did a bid of reading after your comments and fear that there is no quick clean fix for it. The only option I can think of is including the runtime module on the stick for installation and then run the program from the stick. Would you agree?

bear in mind that if you use the runtime you lose all the fancy features you get with access that you may be using

test it yourself by starting the dbs as runtime and see the difference

You loose "development" features with the runtime and you need to include your own custom menus to give back certain types of functionality such as printing.
