What does anyone think about the Ryan Routh case? To be honest I've been thinking since near the beginning that perhaps he was being over-punished/charged. I have a feeling he wasn't actually going to do anything, and I have more than a feeling - a certainty, that he is bat shit crazy and deserves psych treatment at most. It seems like the case was sort of bolstered up into something a bit more than it was.
Don't get me wrong, he seems dangerous, and it was obvious he shouldn't have been carrying a gun and hiding in the bushes, but......
 
I didn't follow that case but did read about it today. Thought it was humorous that he represented himself and he argued that the fact that he didn't shoot the secret service agent was proof he wasn't there to hurt anybody.

I think the Border Czar bribery case is a lot more interesting. I remember Abscam.

Release the video.
 
Abscam? Not sure I'd heard of it, going to check it out - who's the accused?
 
Oh yeah I did read about the 50,000, that's pretty naughty stuff..
 
One thing's for sure, if there is a video, it will never see the light of day.

The criminal is always the victim according to the NYT and Al Jazeera. I'm sure that there is some warped logic that can turn the situation around and blame the whole thing on Trump for playing golf that day. It's always Trump's fault.
 
I didn't say he was a victim, nor totally innocent, but rather that he was overcharged compared to what he actually DID do, which was essentially hide in a bush.

This thing where we just call everyone a Criminal and treat them identically needs to stop. Custom treatment for custom situations - common sense
 
The past administration should've released it, presumably it was their sting operation. Homan criticized the past administration along with MSNBC.

There was credible evidence about Russia Gate also, until we found out it was a Hillary Clinton scam.

He was in the bush with a high power rifle with a scope pointed at secret service. Sheesh.

They couldn't release it, or at least it made no sense to, because he wasn't a public official yet and couldn't be charged with what they really wanted to charge him with - bribery of a public official. They had to wait until he became a public official and then wait until he demonstrated some resolve or reaffirmation to perform the favor, which is why it's now being disposed of - just not the right way.

Up until this point, they only could've charged him with conspiracy, a much lesser thing

He had it pointed at secret service? As in he was about to fire or as in at some point while the rifle was turning around it was pointed at secret service? A lot of people at Trump rallies tried to come in with big guns too, you know the type. No charges there.

I'm pretty skeptical of the idea that he was about to fire it and secret service just happened to see it at that exact moment for the first time - that doesn't make sense. It makes more sense that he was simply crouching in a bush holding a rifle. Charges may be warranted but not that much. I can hold a gun near an important person all day long, doesn't make me a murderer nor an attempted one

Makes no sense because he wasn't in public office. If the Biden administration had won Homan would not have been the director. If Trump won it would be buried, can you see now why this makes little sense.
 
No, it makes total sense. He wasn't in public office yet - that's what I just said. That's why they didn't charge him with bribery back then, he hadn't committed bribery yet.
 
They couldn't prosecute him for a crime (bribery) that he didn't commit. Yes, they were waiting until he became a public official.
