After some searching and discussion in various forums, I have been directed to sagekey runtime as an installation engine. Sagekey offers two runtimes one that operates with Installshield and the other with Wise.

Has anyone used these products and if so which product Installshield or Wise should I purchase? They are both similar pricing, so there may be features I am not seeing that differentiate them and perhaps make on better than the other?

Hello dynamictiger

Did you finally buy one of these installers? What is your experience with it? I am in the same situation.

thanks. Stefan

I went with Wise and Sagekey. I have been pretty happy with the results. I did have to phone Canada for tech support a few times as I have found their email support a bit vague.

We are currently using Access 97 as standard. I am just about to submit a capital exenditure form which must cover everything.

In the immediate future we will use Access 97 MDE front end against an SQL Server backend but in the longer term I could see a need to use Access XP Runtime with MDB or ADP front ends against SQL Server.

Does XP Runtime still cause problems when installed on machines with Access 97 already installed?

Any problem requiring user workaround would be unacceptable in which case sounds like we would need to use we would need to use Installshield or Wise with Sagekey.

Would appreciate any recommendations as to what I need to purchase?

The SageKey site has 3 options for 2002:

- Access 2002 Template for Wise
- Access 2002 Object for Installshield 6
- Access 2002 MSI Wizard

Is it enough just to buy the MSI Wizard and not buy Wise / Installshield

Or do you have to buy the Wizard, plus one of the other options, plus Wise / Installshield

Is there much difference between Wise and Installshield?

Also what version as a minimum of Wise / Installshield would you recommend?

Is Sage as easy to use as the site claims? How much time to learn?
