I need to burn my database, queries, forms, reports, to a cd to turn in with my project. I have it all on the C:drive and I can edit the database ok but when I load it from the disk it will not let me edit or view certain forms etc because it comes up with a message saying read only. Is there anyway around this as my lecture will be attempting to use the database from the disk? Help!!

Now, I'm not a super-technical person but if you are attempting to run a database from a CD then you can't. The information is "burnt" onto the CD so when you open a form for data entry you are effectively asking Access to "burn" new information onto the CD each time.

Thats because windows in its infinate wisdom changes the attributes to Read Only when copying files from CD.

You need to re-set the attibutes of the files once they are copied from the CD.

Right click each file and take the tick out of the Read only box then press OK

That should do it for you

Ha! Perhaps that's because files on a CDare read only. You can't write an updated file to a CD like you can with a hard disk or floppy.

Of course you are quite correct, Mousemat, I've just had a bad day with everyone telling me the bleedin' obvious!
