Greetings,

This has been a perplexing problem. The form in the attached Access97 demo database graphically shows the problem.

When the form is opened, then the scrollbar in the listbox is dragged down for a bit (say 3/5th of an inch or more) and released; an hourglass appears that will not go away for several to many seconds.

It does not seen to impede the functionality but is a major distraction for a user.

I would appreciate any help in solving or working around this problem.

Sorry

No hours glass problem at this end - it must be your machine. I tried on a PII 500 and a P 166 - no problem

No problem here - using Celeron 700 system. But if you're having problems, the thought springs to mind that it may also have s.t. to do with the type of recordsource and how many records are being loaded into the listbox . . .

DES & jjturner,

Thanks for taking a look. After DES's response, I loaded a P166 Windows2000 machine with Office97 and ran the demo against it. I did get the scrollbar to drop to the bottom of the listbox the first time after the form opened but no hourglass either and no 'hanging' of the iconized cursor for many seconds.

First thing in the morning, I am going to reinstall Access on this PC. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks for taking a look for me; I am convinced that the problem is not a fault of Access because of your investigations!
