Hi,

A couple of months ago I took one of the examples in the sample DB section of this forum, which I developed to the DB attached.
The search text box does not work with tab controls. If you look at my DB, you will find that the search in the first tab 'infrastucture' works, but all the search forms on the other tabs don't work.

I have tried all the tricks I know with it, but with no luck. I wonder if anyone can take a look at it and point me to the right direction please...it's urgently needed.

DB link: http://aimreda.co.uk/db

Thank you,
B

Well the row source for lstElectricitySearch3 (and that is the only one I looked at) has the filtering done off of a control on the Infrastructure tab called txtSearch2.

From just the quick look I had this cannot be right if you are trying to search for something on the Electricity tab.

Yup you have a process to assign the change to txtSearch3 on that page but the list box does not use it in the row source as follows:

Like "*" & [Forms]![frmServices]![frmElectricity].[Form]![txtSearch3] & "*"

This is probably the case for the other tabs as well.

You are right. I thought I should do the same, but I was thinking to reference the tab control and forms.

I have got electricity working alright, but not the rest. I changed forms' names to suit each query, but it keeps asking me for a parameter for each letter I type in.

These are the changes I applied:
Like "*" & [Forms]![frmServices]![frmPhone].[Form]![txtSearch2] & "*"

Any more suggestions please?

For the Phone tab it needs to be:

Like "*" & Forms![frmServices]![Child91].Form![txtSearch2] & "*"

Gas Tab:

Like "*" & Forms![frmServices]![Child92].Form![txtSearch2] & "*"

Water Tab:

Like "*" & Forms![frmServices]![Child93].Form![txtSearch2] & "*"

You simply are not getting the names right.

If you need to discuss this more find me on messenger.

Cool:)
I know what you mean now. The DB wrote those default names when I first created my child forms, but I forgot to change them as I thought I could reference frms using their actual 'caption' names.

I am fixing this mistakes right now. How can I find you on messenger?
