I followed all of the steps for User Level Security, wrote down logins, pw's, PID's, etc. created a new .mdw, rejoined system.mdw, created a shortcut with the target to msaccess.exe, new .mdw and db. It now prompts me for a password for all db's, including trying to create a new one, but does not accept any of the passwords I created when making the new .mdw. I in no way messed with system.mdw so am confused as to why I am suddenly locked out.

Any ideas? I have read FAQ on desecuring, but I need to be able to get in the db first.

Thanks for your help!

Got this fixed, I think. I went ahead and created another .mdw (NEW.MDW) and linked to it and everything opened fine. Apparently somehow SYSTEM.MDW did get modified-which ticks me off because I followed the user level security instructions to the letter. I installed a copy of SYSTEM.MDW from my Access 2002 at home (I'm running 2000 at work), relinked to it and all is well now. Does anyone see any issues I might run into down the road with using the .mdw from a different Access version?

Thanks,

Toni
