Security options help please

Dear All,

I would like to set up a database with an admin password, I open it, go to Tools >> Security >> User and Group Accounts >> Change Logon Password

I fill in the New password, Verify fields, then hit OK and I got this error message: "Cannot update. Database or object is read-only."
However I am the only one in the database...and I tried it in Exclusive mode as well, but still got this eror message

Could you please advise?

Right click on *.mdb file, select Properties and make sure "Read Only" is not checked.

even if you can do this, this isnt the right way to set a database password - changing user security may lock you out of all your databases

look at help to set a database password

If you made a workgroup file, I would try what Singh400 suggested with the file too. I had the same problem once.
