I have been fumbling with setting up user Security and have the following questions on multiuser security.
When I set my self up as Admin and remove the default Admin
login I still don't seem to have absoulute authority on existing
databases. I think its because the owner is still Admin ,but as a member of the Admin group shouldn't I still have absoulute authority over all objects? I have to put the Admin user back in
to tranfer ownership this doesn't seem right.
Also when selecting permissions and ownership the database object is not selectable to change its ownership or permissions.
Is is possible to make this selectable to change ownerships in one fell swoop. Or how can you get total ownership in one fell swoop.
Is there any difference between setting up a Workgroup with the workgroup manager program and setting one up inside access with the security selections under tools?

When I first attempted playing with this stuff I ended up locking myself out of access and had to load the software allover again.
Now I realize if I make a copy of the system MDW file I can always get back to square one without having reload.
I seem to have got to the place where I can set up the passwords.
I still don't have control or a good understanding over some of the details .
One thing I have read is that you have to reimport the databases when you are logged in to change there ownership to your own. (as the new Admin)
I want to set up a database on a network that people from multiple sites can log into. They are all on the company intranet.
Since Security enabling is for all databases under access on the local computer whats the easiest way to do this.
Is is best to use a local computer as a Server?
If I install the program on a directory on a Net Drive is Access only
Security protected on that drive or directory?

But when you add a new workgroup you are effectivly changing System.mdw are you not?

This is a little confusing. When you create a workgroup with the workgroup manager to my limited knowledge it modifys the System.mdw file. If you give the new.mdw file a different name you have two mdw files. How do you resolve this?
I am having trouble understanding this because of the parsing off the names involved.
You have a workgroup file.
You have groups within the file.
and you have users within groups.
I thought there could only be one *.mdw file and it would be
System .MDW
Do you have to make a new database and import your the databases elements under the new login to get ownership under that login to make security work?
I'm self taugh on this program using the Access 97 VBA and macro and the Access Developers Book . I found the sections
in these somehwhat vague however maybe I haven't read close enough>
