Hi

I am a bit confused. My understanding is all info in access is to enter once. Hence, i assume i need to create a table for gender and to link it to employees detailed table.

However, in http://www.databaseanswers.org/data_models/payrolls/index.html, gender is in employees table without gender table being created.

Can someone please clarify the issue to me?

Thanks in advance

No need for another Table.

If you had a code, for something like US State that has several possible values, you could have a lookup table.

eg tblUSState
with fields
StateCode
StateName
StateAbbrev

But we normally think of Gender as Male or Female (only 2 values).
Recording the values as M or F is quite common.

You may find this article of value.
